God With Us=Peace
John 14:27 ~ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
In John 14:27, Christ's "peace" refers to hope and reassurance beyond what a fallen world can offer. It is permanent, guaranteed, and eternal.
We are in the Advent season now, remembering the Birth of Jesus Christ and Christ’s teachings. Although we celebrate Christ now, we should not forget to live in Advent throughout the year! We should pass on the Gift of Christ’s love not just now but in every aspect of our lives. Continue to spread hope and peace!
The Hebrew word shalom
In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word shalom is translated as "peace" and means "completeness," "soundness," and "well-being." It's the opposite of harm and has both physical and spiritual connotations. Shalom results from the right relationships with God, others, and creation.
In the New Testament
The term "peace" is used in the New Testament in several ways, including:
The absence of war or chaos
A right relationship with God or Christ &
A good relationship among people
An individual virtue or state, such as tranquillity or serenity
Types of peace
The Bible describes three kinds of peace:
Spiritual peace (peace with God)
Relational peace (peace with others)
Emotional peace (peace within ourselves)
Peace as a gift from God
The Bible says that peace is ultimately a gift from God. The presence of peace indicates God's blessing on man's obedience and faith.
